Happy New Year, Peeps!
How’s the year treating you so far? Hard to tell, right
Right. You may want to say so. Many of you think so. I don’t blame you—it’s what you have been tuned to believe for the longest time.
I want to teach you a better way of commanding the year. I had shared some of my top secrets—4 infallible keys to remaining relevant at work; you could check it out in Ep. 2. Sit back; I am about to bless you a little more. I want to teach you how to command your year at work. Follow every instruction, and you will be just like me—people won’t know what to do without you… or to you.
Number 1. Know the King’s advisor.
There’s no one closer to the boss other than his trusted sage. You might never get close enough to him. The closest way to get his attention is through his wise men. Keep them close. The game here is whatever they tell the king is what the king is most likely to do. You get it?
Number 2. Never rally the masses.
There is no power in numbers—especially if you work in a call center, not unless there is a CSR activity that you are doing. Nowadays, a large followership looks much more like a resistance front to your bosses. You are safer alone; you make much more corporate sense as an individual. Mobs will do you injustice.
Finally, my people, do only what you are paid to do.
This one is controversial, but you need stuff that works, right? Good. The thing is, as much as the organization appreciates your extra work, you stand to be of more powerful, mysterious and full of intrigue if you just do what is enough. Get to work on time, do your work to near perfection and then go home.
The law of scarcity says that absence increases your value. Stop being overly available. Know your craft and do it well—and do extras at a cost.
Shalom sisters and brothers!
